About a Virus

How does it work?
There are many kinds of viruses, but they all have a something in common. They must be installed and run just like any other software. Once they do, they can spread from one part of your computer to the next, eventually infecting and crippling the entire machine. The easiest way to spread viruses is through email and downloads. That is where unsuspecting users can make the most mistakes or can be easily mislead into opening and installing unknown software.

What do they do?
Viruses can infect and destroy your pc right away, or can launch at a later date. They can affect single PCs, or spread to entire computer networks, servers and Web sites. Irrespective of their intentions, viruses may be devastating. Viruses can obliterate all data, corrupt programs so that they no longer run, overload servers, steal passwords or use your address book contacts to spread itself around the world. Imagine your friends receiving an email from you asking you to open the attachment, in this case a virus. They get more clever every day and so must you.

How are viruses spread?
The Internet provides the most efficient way for a virus to spread. File downloads and e-mail attachments are the most common ways of contracting a virus. Think about the frequency of your use of these applications. It is part of your daily life on the computer. You should arm yourself with an antivirus product that will shield you against such danger. Scan your machine now and find out if you are virus free and what you can do to protect yourself.

Got a virus?
If your computer is already infected with a virus, there still may be a chance to save your computer. Use an anti-virus program to remove the virus. If you can’t, enlist the help of a computer technician who can help you.

Arm yourself against viruses. Find out if your computer is virus free or not. And find out about products that can protect you on an ongoing basis.
